When I reached my 21st year, I celebrated it’s arrival with a rather spectacular gathering…I’ve always been rather enamoured by such social occasions, but I must say that until this day, my 21st birthday was the BEST party I ever went to!! Wine flowed like water, laughter mingled with the bird song of a summer evening and friends, family and I danced until the early hours of the morning! The presents brought on that night would have sunk a battleship!
One of them, however, left a more lasting impression than all the others…it’s what really kick-started my love affair with all things erotic. It was a present given to me by an older, incredibly liberated, cousin, whom I had rarely met. Being a rather ‘hippy’ type she is far less constrained by the nuances of social decorum which the majority of people tend to respect. She gave me a beautiful, antique, copy of the Kamasutra. Hand bound parchment which is hand-written and illustrated, it really is a thing of beauty. As an erotic guide?? Pretty much useless!!! I can’t read the language and the illustrations are about as precise as Ikea instructions would be if Picasso had drawn them!! However, I was so intrigued by this book that I went out and bought a modern-day copy, in English!! Well, actually I bought a book which clearly illustrates the sexual positions and gives you tips on foreplay etc!! (more…)
