Staggering isn’t it? And it’s not just the people with the virus who suffer. HIV/AIDS has far reaching consequences. It negatively impacts on economic growth, increases poverty and, ultimately, tears families and friends apart.
There is currently no vaccine and the only way to prevent infection is to avoid contact with the virus. But the health, quality and length of life for those affected with HIV can be greatly improved with antiretroviral (ARV) treatment.
It’s a big issue and it’s not going away in a hurry. But we felt that something had to be done to change the figures. Which is what led us to sell One® condoms in the UK.

The programme takes teams of doctors, nurses and counsellors to visit rural communities – villages often too remote for most hospitals and clinics. The staff then provide HIV/AIDS testing and counselling. This way people that are HIV negative know it and are educated on how to stay negative and those who are HIV positive are identified as soon as possible and are referred to clinics where they can receive the correct life-saving ARV (antiretroviral) drugs to increase their quality of life for longer.
