Cleaning / Caring For Your Sex Toy

At La Belle Epoque we are the first to advocate the benefits of keeping any sex toys as hygienic as possible. Realistically there is no best way to clean a sex toy as the cleaning method most suited to sex toys depends on both the material and the function. For instance if you have a vibrator which is waterproof then you will be able to immerse it, however this is not the case for toys which are not waterproof. Equally sex toys which are heavily soiled or heavily embellished with extra goodies such as ridges, studs and twists, require a little more attention than a once over rub down with soapy water.

It may sound a little daunting but to be honest it is not as daunting as the alternative. Sex toys which are unclean are not hygienic and can carry germs or even STI’s and STD’s. While you may think this does not affect you as you have no STI’s or STD’s we warn you simply of the dangers of infections such as yeast infections which can find a friendly harbour on an unclean sex toy.

Those who must take the most care are those who partake in sexual activities which involve the usage of so-called ‘shared’ sex-toys. Just as we would advocate the dangers of sleeping with many partners in an unprotected manner, the same is true of shared sex toys. Shared toys should be cleaned thoroughly between uses, particularly between the uses of different users, and may we also go so far as to suggest that if you are practicing sex with shared sex toys, we strongly suggest that you use a condom with the toy so as to protect yourself thoroughly and in the manner we hope you do with short-term partners.
